I used to be a casual Michael Cera fan. I thought he was funny in Superbad with his cool nerd type persona. It was in Juno when I realized this guy doesn’t have much depth as an actor, even a comedic actor... Judging by the trailer, it looks like his typecasting continues in Year One. This one also features Jack Black, an actor with much more depth. He also has a proven track record, ranging from Orange County and King Kong, to Kung Fu Panda. These two actors look mediocre together and Cera could have benefited more from Jonah Hill being in this, his Superbad counterpart.

It'd probably be more fun to see the original after the new version, if you haven't seen it. And maybe it's dated, I haven't seen it for a while. Just thinking about it makes me want to re-watch some of Matthau's tough guy roles, like "Charlie Varrick".

This aesthetically pleasing period piece was a spotlight film at this year's Tribeca Film Fest and will open in limited release in the US on May 22nd. Easy Virtue follows a boisterous American woman race car driver who marries a young British man who comes from a family run by a very stuffy mother. The film stars Jessica Biel, Kristin Scott Thomas, Colin Firth, and Ben Barnes. It definitely was a delight to watch!

Here's some stats for Angels & Demons from 5/5/09 - 5/11/09:I loved both Dan Brown's Robert Langdon novels, but this book, Angels & Demons, was my favorite. I'm hoping the movie will prove to be far better than Da Vinci Code. While this book is just as lengthy and informative with some historical facts, many segments can be removed and you'll still have an intriguing plot to carry the story. However, let's hope screenwriters gave this one better justice.

Taking seriously the criticism of Da Vinci, new film is a breezy if improbable pyscho-religious action-thriller that's better in structure, plot, casting, pacing and even Hanks' shape and hair, not to mention pragmatic message of science aiding religion.

As long as Steve Coogan and Owen Wilson are back, I’m there. Oh, they are back? Excellent. Ooo, and Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart? Cool. Hank Azaria as an Egyptian pharaoh? Nice. The Cinema Society hosted a screening of this movie last week and I found it to be sweet, witty and fun. A definite surprise coming off of Rian's last project, "Brick," which was great but a lot heavier. Definitely worth checking out when it is released in a few weeks.
